Mission / goals The mission of the technology transfer office (PACTT) is to enable our Institutions’ technologies to reach the market for the public good. In collaboration with a professional network of lawyers, patent agents, coaches and entrepreneurs, the technology transfer office provides a personalized service to inventors with regards to all aspects of technology evaluation, protection of intellectual property rights and creation of a start-up company. The technology transfer office acts as an interface between industrial companies and researchers and has been commissioned by the Institutions to negotiate directly with the partners. Tight collaboration with the inventors is a key element in successfully bringing novel technologies to the market. The technology transfer office does not influence the objectives of the research projects. Following the principle of academic freedom, these are entirely left to the discretion of the researchers and the Institutions. By reviewing research contracts between faculty and industrial partners the technology transfer office makes an essential contribution to the good governance of the Institutions. Costs Services provided by the technology transfer office are free of charge for all employees of the University Hospital of Lausanne and the University of Lausanne. PACTT pays the expenses of the preliminary analysis of the invention and all patent related costs. In case of successful commercialisation these costs are deducted before net revenues are distributed. Intellectual property rights Intellectual property rights of all inventions and software originating from research in the Institutions belong to the Institutions.
