Intellectual property

Scientists are facing a dilemma: the need to publish to advance science and to reinforce their academic reputation in a highly competitive environment on one hand, and the need to avoid disclosure until intellectual property rights are protected through the filing of a patent application.

By informing PACTT as early as possible about the invention (Invention Disclosure Form (IDF) - , 184k) , PACTT can solve this dilemma by filing a provisional patent application in around 4 weeks. This way, intellectual property rights are secured without compromising rapid scientific publication.

Remember: first patent – then publish!

Other creations may also be protected by Intellectual Property rights like copyright for software or design for protecting the shape of an object. Copyright protects software from the moment of its creation and you are invited to use the Software Disclosure Form (SwDF) (, 123k) for announcing it to PACTT.
